Katherine Johnson  Changing Life

Abtract Painte wiith swirls and scratches white background. subtle highlights in shades of yellow and orange
Generation 30″ x 40″ Acrylic on canvas

Today is my only opportunity to use painting to express the impact of everything that is happening in this impermanent moment as it occurs.  Change has always been a constant in this life.  The only difference now is an acceptance that living and painting are an expression of change.

Phil Rader  Authentic Explorations

Abstract Oil Paiting with Turquoise background and organic shapes

Unique oil paintings spontaneously and intuitively created using the experimental process.

Rachel Amos  Through The Roots with Fungi

Pastel drawing of plants soil and roots
Late Winter unframed, approx. 16” x 19.5″ chalk pastel and pastel pencil

These pastel drawings are a combination of meditation and fantasy about roots and their fungal companions. In some pieces I was looking to show how that companionship works, and in others I was letting fantasy probe the relationship.

Gail Wagner  Diverge

Abstract painting of organic forms derived from nature. Blues and Greens.
Laminaria, 18″ x 24″, acrylic on paper

I am fascinated by the study of nature. With our human limitations we try to understand the natural world: we create systems of naming and organization, describe patterns, and observe behaviors. Despite hundreds of years of investigation, there remain natural phenomena that resist categorization and cross formulated boundaries.  In “Diverge” I explore these paradoxes by juxtaposing contrasting images, techniques, and painting styles. With the goal of harmonizing opposites, I play with balance and imbalance, asking the viewer to continue the process with their own imagination.
