Artist Statement

Stories have always held great significance for me. My narrative paintings portray family and social issues using mythical, religious, and art historical elements, and portray some characters as animals to add an air of fable to the mix. I create dramatic , bittersweet works with heart that reflect what I see in life: there’s more to this than meets the eye.

Biography

Sarah Tenney grew up illustrating her own stories during her elementary years, studied art in college, and has painted like mad ever since.

In addition to being a professional artist, Sarah has worked in the audiobook industry, recording for the Library of Congress’ National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped for 10 years.  She lives in Denver with her husband, their two precocious boys, and two personable cats.
