This body of work is mostly about color and shape…and the rhythm of our existence. The work, which includes ceramic sculpture and woodblock prints, was influenced by music and art from the 1960’s.

Mending Revisited is an exhibition conceived by a collection of past and present Edge members. The concept for the show was based on the idea of mending as the restoration of wholeness from insignificant fragments.

Works from Wendy Clough, Carrie Fox, Sara-Lou Klein, Jennifer Pettus, Wynne Reynolds, Mala Setaram-Wolfe, Janine Thornton and Gail Wagner.

Things as They Are      Katherine Johnson

“Enduring,” acrylic, 30” x 24”

Beginning spontaneously opens the opportunity for expression of the unconscious. Looking focuses on cues for the direction the work needs to take. Acceptance means supporting what is already there to its own conclusion.

In the Earth      Rachel Amos

seeds, holes, cracks, stems, roots, human traces

In the Earth 1989 – 2019

Quite recently I realized that for about 30 years, a constant theme in my work has been things buried, sunk, inserted, or abandoned in the earth. It seemed to me that it would be interesting to see several of these pieces, including current work, together, thus this show which is part retrospective.

New light works by Stephen Shugart are meditations on our fractured world.  As our social, political and natural environments become increasingly fragmented, fractured and polarized with the advent of the Internet, social media, logarithms, big data analytics and demographic segmentation, as well as continued plundering of natural resources, these light sculptures are personal reflections on the deep uncertainly of our current era that seems dark and unknowable. They incorporate found materials illuminated with colored light, and thus, in this time of challenging technological acceleration, these works nevertheless attempt to illuminate the darkness through contemplation.

Opening July 26, 2019 – August 11, 2019

Kay Galvan : The Path that is No Path
Jon Kitner : Looking inside, a painter’s view

Opening Reception: Friday, July 26th, 2019. 6PM – 10PM

Kay Galvan

“Not Even a Middle”  2019,  24″ x 36,”   Oil on canvas.

Kay Galvan uses contemplation and meditation as media for exploring various Buddhist topics. Study offers a new view of reality, as the student travels a path with a certain view in mind. The view changes as understanding develops. Eventually the practitioner realizes that the path is no-path and the view is no-view. One’s mind has both traveled and not traveled — changed while remaining the same.

Jon Kitner

“First Freeze”, acrylic on board, 12’x12”, 2019

Jon Kitner spent forty years as a college art professor in Miami, Florida. One year ago he brought his Denver native wife home, joined 40 West Arts and became a full-time member of Edge gallery. His paintings record his personal vision of his surroundings, from both Florida and Colorado. He seeks the light of the late day and evening to hold his subjects in shadows and mystery.

Upcoming Exhibitions at Edge:
