ON EDGE is an annual juried exhibition of contemporary work by artists residing in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region who are pushing the boundaries of material and concept . EDGE Gallery has exhibited groundbreaking contemporary art for more than 30 years and has been instrumental in presenting important experimental work in our region.

Sue Crosby Doyle     Rocks of Ages

The current series “Rocks of Ages” is a collection of Drypoint prints of rock formations around the southwestern United States. I have been drawn to these natural rock formations because of their individual rock shapes, textures, and shadows that make up the whole unique formation.

As I worked through the Drypoint etching process of these images and plates, my skills developed in being able to capture the nuances of the individual rocks within the formation as well as the uniqueness of the light and shadows of the entire formation and its surroundings.

Nolan Tredway     Soft Mutations

In the early days of the pandemic, many artists saw the opportunity to make amazing work. I floundered. I tried to make so many things, both for my own mental health and out of a sense of helping others. It was important for me to keep creating, even while knowing it wasn’t my best work. Soft Mutations is a revisiting of a few sculptural prototypes, tests, and failures and reworking them with a kind and compassionate lens into new creatures with new purpose. It’s a practice of grace and forgiveness, a path forward, and a nod toward the endless possibilities for transformation.

Heather Hauptman     What if She…the absence of the divine feminine in the patriarchy.

Kerem Smith-Stone     Cloud Singers Shows

A collection of new works by Kerem Smith-Stone exploring the meaning of Black freedom in dreams, myth, and fantasy. Incorporating aspects of surrealism, symbolism, and classic portraiture with the aim of depicting Black dignity.

Alane Holsteen    The Call of Beauty

And when people cease to believe that there is good and evil
Only beauty will call to them and save them
So that they will still know how to say: this is true and that is false.

Kelly Pierce    Works on Paper

This show is an overview of work spanning the last two decades 2001-2023. Most of these paintings have never been shown before and were started immediately after 9/11. They touch on the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, the COVID period and the current present. Combining oil/acrylic painting, airbrush, spray paint, printmaking, block printing and vintage collage/found materials, these works on paper are the result of filtering numerous forms of media into a hand painted experience on one of history’s oldest mediums, paper. Combining the present experience with the past utilizing a wide-range of subject and imagery.

Katie Hoffman

New oil paintings in a gently surreal vein. These works continue her exploration of mythologies, symbolism, and the joy of still being above ground and able to smear paint around.

Susan Hazaleus

These blinking led acrylic wall sculptures commemorate a road trip to California that my parents took me on when I was very small. I was particularly fascinated by the neon signs and the magical lawn ornaments that I had never seen before.

Judy Horowitz

People fascinate me, the landscapes in which they live will dictate how they project themselves. Reactions to current events will become a painting and the dogs are always there to soothe the soul.
