Jennifer Pettus

Jennifer Pettus is a visual artist working in fiber-based mixed media. Combining “throw away” textiles with both fine art and handicraft techniques, she explores the body’s shifting relationship to the biological and sociological elements that define it. Pettus attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned a BFA in Studio Art and the University of Colorado at Denver where she received a Master of Humanities degree with a focus on Women’s Studies, Sculpture, and Theater Design. In addition to formal art education, she has held numerous positions that expanded her art practice, including wig mender, floral designer, jewelry assistant, school photographer, costume assistant, and scenic painter. Pettus is featured as one of 160 artists in the 2014 Dutch publication, Textile Art Around the World and in Surface Design Association’s Winter 2018 Exhibition in Print, Family Matters. Her work was selected for FiberArt International 2016 in Pittsburgh, PA; World of Threads Festival 2016 in Toronto, ON; Art of the State 2016, 2019, and 2022 in Arvada, CO and Meow Wolf’s Convergence Station in Denver, CO.
