Linda Bishara’s ceramic practice is inspired by the intricacies and narratives contained within Peruvian retablos, the ornamentation in liturgical objects, the ancient Egyptian obsession with death and magic, and the absurdity found in the human condition. She layers those inspirations with her own whimsical characters, creating a bizarre fantasy world that feels indulgent, subversive and humorous. While these worlds are deeply personal, she ultimately suggests an open-ended narrative for the viewer’s own stories and meaning.
